Balancing Hormones
ABOUT ME
I've been a behind-the-counter PHARMACIST for over 20 years, working in independent retail stores across the state of NC. I am also a LEARNER whose most recent hobby is understanding how the body works and heals itself from within. It turns out we HUMANS don't really have a sertraline deficiency but disease is symptomatic of a system that has somehow gone wrong. I am interested in finding out WHY the symptoms are taking place. At least with hormones, if we balance the hormones, symptoms often disappear.
HORMONES
Hormones are messengers that turn ON and OFF bodily processes. The ENDOCRINE system touches every cell in the body, important for our fight-or-flight response, blood sugar regulation, energy production (to name a few)...with the thyroid gland the conductor of this symphony. When hormones are balanced, disease processes are greatly reduced. When hormone production begin to decline (as with perimenopause and menopause) OR thyroid hormones decline OR Cortisol levels go wacky OR insulin levels are pushed to the limit secondary to the glucose strains we put on the body....then HORMONES can be UNBALANCED, DEFICIENT, TOXIC....
HELP!
I hear you. I've been watching behind the counter. I see the medications....Your profile tells a story. It typically begins with some hormone event....either a toxic Oral CONTRACEPTIVE, a tubal ligation or hysterectomy, a childbirth (causing sudden drop in hormones), a significant STRESS EVENT... Then an ANTIDEPRESSANT is added, or maybe something for ANXIETY or SLEEP, then it's a WEIGHT LOSS medication, then BLOOD PRESSURE or HIGH CHOLESTEROL....the list goes on and on. And with all this medication WHY aren't we getting better? I'm tired of this story OVER and OVER again.
